Bangalore Overseas Star Suffers Injury during the Ind T20 League 2023
The Bangalore franchise suffered yet another injury blow as one of their prime pace star Reece Topley dislocated his right shoulder when he was on the field during the Indian T20 League game against Mumbai. The Bangalore head coach Mike Hesson reported about the Englishman Topley’s injury situation. He also said that his condition will be determined after the results of the scans. “Unfortunately his knee dug into the ground and he landed on his shoulder and dislocated it. It was lucky enough (for us) that the doctors were able to pop it back in,” said Hesson.
“He is off to have a scan at the moment. We hope that the initial reports come back nicely and Reece can join us. (But) if not then we will have to see what happens, but hopefully, he is alright.” Bangalore made a terrific start to their season by registering a huge eight-wicket win against Mumbai in front of the home crowd at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Topley now joined the list of injured players, and the team management now would have to dig deep into their squad to find a suitable replacement for the player.
The problem in front of them is, if Toppley is out for a longer duration, he will join the group of the batter Rajat Patidar and fast bowler, Josh Hazlewood. While Patidar is healing from a heel injury and is set to miss the first half of the league, Hazlewood will most probably miss the first seven matches.
The Du Plessis-led side fetched their fourth consecutive win over Rohit Sharma’s side since the Indian T20 League 2021. Hesson said, “It does not get any better than that. The intensity with which we bowled in the field was exceptional.
"We took early wickets in the powerplay which we wanted to do from last year, but we held it together with the ball and our batting was exceptional,” he expressed.
