Barcelona are speeding up their efforts to offer Lionel Messi a contract this summer

Barcelona are putting in the work to bring back Lionel Messi to the club this summer. They are currently in talks with La Liga, discussing the flexibility in the Financial Fair Play ratio. 

The Spanish giants are holding talks with the league concerning their spending limits for the next season, with the idea of reclaiming ties with Messi. 

However, it will not be that easy. LaLiga has charged Barcelona for their limit with three players during the 2021-22 season, including former Chelsea defender Andreas Christiensen and were compelled to re-register Gavi as an Academy player. 

Despite the successful appeal of the Christiensen fine, Barca remain at the very limit of what they can actually spend and will almost in all certainty have to move players in order to execute a Messi return. 

Nevertheless, Barca are very much working with that intention in consideration and they have been buoyed by the lack of progress in Messi’s contract talks with Paris Saint Germain offlate. 

Messi at first was eager to hear PSG’s stance on his future at the club but further negotiations changed his mind. 

In fact the number 10 has already received lucrative offers with Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal offering £400m according to reports. 

No other club in the world could make such a cash rich offer and such is the determination of Saudi Arabian football to have Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi both competing in their league for a season

Barcelona vice president Rafael Yuste discloses that the club is in contact with Lionel Messi and manager Xavi compared the possible move to Micheal Jordan’s last dance. Paris Saint Germain still want the forward to stay and the player’s priority has been likely the same since both sides agreed towards a renewal around the time in Qatar during the World Cup.
