Virat Kohli doubtful for the First ODI against England

The ex-Indian skipper Virat Kohli is a doubtful starter for the first One Day International against England at The Oval in Kennington, London on Tuesday, 12 July. According to the Indian Cricket Board, he has suffered a groin injury and the decision on his participation will be taken on Tuesday morning.

Although the Indian team have sufficient backup players in the 17-men squad for the three-match ODI series. The second and third matches which are the final leg of India’s tour to England will be hosted at Lord’s and Old Trafford, on July 14 and 17 respectively.

In the meantime, Virat’s slump in form continues to be a matter of tension for the Indian team management. With the Asian Championship and the World T20 Championship knocking at the door, his tour to England has not been of a good outcome, the batting sensation has only managed to get 31 runs in the fifth rescheduled test match (11 & 20) and scored a total of 12 runs in the second and third T20Is (1 & 11).

In the third T20I, he was getting on track, having shot a four and a six off two consecutive deliveries before giving a disappointing catch to Jason Roy in David Willey’s over.
